In the latest Quacquarelli Symonds University Rankings, Vietnam National University, Hanoi belongs to Top 161-170; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City is placed in Top 191-200 and Hanoi University of Science and Technology is listed in Top 251-300. Two years ago, Vietnam National University, Hanoi was the only Vietnamese tertiary establishment listed in Top 201-250.
QS World University Rankings are compiled based on 5 indicators: Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Student-to-faculty ratio, Citations per faculty, International faculty ratio and International student ratio. According to the 2014 QS World University Rankings, Asia’s top universities include the National University of Singapore, Korea Advanced Instituteof Science and Technology, the University of Hong Kongand Seoul National University.
Asian scholars’ evaluation shows that Vietnam tertiary education credibility has increased significantly over the past years. However, the statistics show that, except for the three above-named universities, the quantitative indicators of international publications and the number of scientists of Vietnamese universities have not much improved.
